Mike Scott led Virginia with 15 points and six rebounds. The Cavaliers were 3-of-18 (16.7%) from beyond the 3-point line. The 45-point output was an all-time low for Virginia in an NCAA Tournament game.
The Gators were led by Bradley Beal's 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Casey Prather chipped in a career-high 14 points off the bench.
Florida finished the first half on a 17-4 run to take a 30-22 lead into the locker room. The Gators shot 70 percent from the field in the second half.
10th-seeded Virginia finishes its season with a 22-10 record.
It was the Wahoos' first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007.
