NEW CASSEL, N.Y. (WPIX)—Nassau County police nabbed a man in connection with a robbery at a New Cassel cell phone store after the suspect apparently dropped a stolen phone during his getaway.
Rodney Jones, 27, of Westbury, reportedly made his way into 'Benitos Communication,' located at 1007 Prospect Ave., by breaking into an adjoining vacant shop and removing a Plexiglas partition separating the stores.
Authorities were able to track Jones down after detectives discovered a fingerprint left on the dropped phone. Jones was arrested Friday afternoon in connection with the March 27 robbery.
Court records indicate Jones has served time behind bars for crimes including drug possession and resisting arrest.
Jones is charged with third-degree burglary and will be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
