JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WPIX)—A pregnant New Jersey woman who disappeared days before her due date is now believed to have left voluntarily, authorities said.
Police have obtained video proof that Aileen Cepeda Velasquez, 27, left the United States late last month and went to Puerto Rico voluntarily, Jersey City police spokesman, Lt. Edgar Martinez said Saturday.
The Puerto Rican native is the mother of two young girls. She has not been seen since Jan. 26, when she went to the store to buy a soda.
Her mother said she left the house in high spirits without her wallet, ID, cell phone or keys.
Her boyfriend, who is the father of the children, lives in Puerto Rico. Relatives say she planned to visit him soon, but declined further comment.
Velasquez will remain classified as a missing person until authorities received confirmation form Velasquez, herself.
