SHEEPSHEAD BAY, N.Y. (WPIX)—We first told you about Kamasutra on Friday, the new sex shop on Sheepshead Bay Road.
The window display was too much for many in the community and assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz came to the rescue he spoke to the owner and made sure some of the more offensive items, were removed.
"He was willing to comply and he did make those changes last night, glad about that? Of course you know as long as he is willing to work with us and the residents of the community than we have no complaints." Cymbrowitz told PIX New on Friday.
Well the complaints keep coming.
"A lot of young people are in the neighborhood and I don't think it's right, I don't think it belongs here I really don't." said 70 year old Barbara Einiger.
The store legally signed a lease agreeing to sell 70 percent lingerie and only 30 percent sex toys are marital aides.
When asked what should should be in the window, 69 year old Audrey Shapiro replied. "Nightgowns, house coats, socks."
Socks might not attract to much business.
PIX News tried was not able to get in touch with the owner of the shop for comment.
Assemblyman Cybromwitz was too busy today, but a spokesman said he would ask the owner to remove more of the remaining marital aides.
The sex shop only opened up 5 days ago and some people say you got to give it a little time to fit into the neighborhood. Even some of the people that complained to us were a bit curious."
We did catch a lot of people taking a closer look.
Barbara Einiger and Audrey Shapiro actually went in, for a while.
"I didn't buy anything." said Shapiro, who admitted she had her eye on some of the merchandise. "Some where not so good but some were good." Shapiro seemed to have a change of heart saying maybe the store could stay if the window was scaled back more "Maybe it would be good because people want to go in, its okay."
