BRONX, N.Y. (WPIX)—A massive sinkhole has closed down traffic near Fordham University.
Officials tell PIX News the sinkhole -- located at Webster Ave. and E. 198th St. -- is roughly estimated to be about 10 feet by 15 feet and approximately 10 feet deep.
Con Edison is on the scene and immediately shut off gas in the area. In addition, the Department of Environmental Protection has crews on location.
PIX News has learned a water main has been affected, and as a result at least 100 people are without water. Officials say they are hoping to restore water by Thursday evening.
Webster Ave. is closed between 197th Street and Bedford Park Blvd.
