Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County—They are used to dealing with the heat. Some Dauphin County firefighters and police officers are hitting the ice to help raise money for Harrisburg's River Rescue Unit. The Dauphin County Police and Fire Hockey Club will faceoff with Hershey Bears Alumni on September 22nd at Twin Ponds East. They are used to playing each other in the Spring to raise money for various causes. This is the first time they will skate against the Bears.
"Freddy Cassivi, Mitch Lamoreaux .. all those guys have been absolutely fantastic," said Mac McClurg of the Lawnton Fire Company. "Every year we've done a game in the Spring, a police-fire hockey game and they've always stepped up to the plate for us."
For this game, the club has chosen to assist the Harrisburg River Rescue in their quest to raise enough money for a new station. They lost theirs during the flooding in Sept. of 2011 and have been temporarily housed in the old Brenner car dealership on Paxton St.
Faceoff for the charity game on Saturday, September 22nd is at 4:15pm at Twin Ponds East. FOX43 Sports Director Todd Sadowski will be a member of the Hershey Bears Alumni team.
