CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — A judge in northwestern Indiana has turned down a defense request for a second autopsy of a 13-year-old boy whose body was found in a shallow grave.

The Lake County judge made the ruling Tuesday during a court hearing for Riley Choate, who is charged with murder for the death of his son Christian Choate.

The Times of Munster reports the judge ordered the coroner's report on the first autopsy be submitted by Friday and that she could reconsider allowing a second autopsy.

Investigators have said in court documents that the boy was beaten for several years and kept in a cage for as long as a year before his death in early 2009. His body was found in May buried at a Gary mobile home park.
