INDIANAPOLIS—Jeannie Acheson-Munos grew up in Indianapolis. She died doing what she loved.
She and her husband Jack left Indianapolis to serve. They lived in a missionary building in the heart of Port au Prince.
"Jack Munos had been found after 6 hours with a staff member, but they weren't able to find Jeannie," said friend John Hay Jr.
Jeannie went to Haiti in 2004. Her father R.B. Atcheson -- was a senior pastor at Westside Church of Nazarene. Her dad now 92, still lives in Indianapolis.
"Jeanne carries his faith with her vibrancy," said John.
"She was a mother to some of those kids," added Becky Hay.
It took rescuers six hours to get Jack Munos out from under thick concrete. He was flown to a Miami where he is in stable condition with a broken leg.
"I can't imagine what it will be like for him," said Becky. "They've been married many years. It's going to be a really big adjustment for him."
John and Becky Hay knew Jeannie well. John oversees International Child Care Ministries, a program Jeannie loved being a part of.
