Newsletter: In the Kitchen: Of pizza and pomegranates

Share

Los Angeles is home to some incredible pizza, what with Pizzeria Mozza, Sotto, Jon & Vinny’s and Bestia churning out amazing pies. We’ve spent the last week celebrating one of our favorite comfort foods, from little-known pizzas around town you really need to check out, to wines to pair with your favorite pie. And for those of us ever on the hunt to improve our homemade pizza game, we check out the Uuni portable wood-fired oven.

It’s also pomegranate season, and we explore some great recipes, both sweet and savory, as well as an easy way to tackle the notoriously messy fruit.

WHAT TO DO WITH ALL THE POMEGRANATES IN SEASON RIGHT NOW

Fall means pomegranates, and you can find the fruit all over farmers market stands as well as grocery stores. Of course, you can take the easy route and buy the fruit pre-cleaned, or check our our tips for cleaning it yourself, without the mess. Use the sweet-tart arils to add color and flavor to salads, savory sauces, soups and even desserts. We share some of our favorite recipes.
