A fundraiser for Ghana, March 3rd at West Hartford's Quaker Friends Meeting House

QuakerismMusicEntertainment

With performers like Margaux Hayes, Richard McGhee III, Abu Carter, David Brown, Kevin Lamkins and Jill Friedman, it's easy to imagine heading to the Bright Star Vision fundraiser, which supports educational projects in the Volta Region of Ghana, just for the music. But you can also chat with former spoken-word artists Mira (also known as Dream Chaser), participate in a drum circle led by Playtivity's Craig Norton and Virginia Anderson (pictured) while your kids steep themselves in various activities, purchase some sweet direct-trade Ghanaian items. (Oh, and your donation's tax deductible.)

Bright Star Vision: Ghana 7th Annual Fundraiser, March 3, 6-10 p.m., $25 (suggested), Quaker Friends Meeting House, 144 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford, (860) 233-7852.
