Summer and jazz go pretty well together, and both seem like ideal reasons to head out to the hills of Litchfield County this weekend, where top-flight players, including Saturday saxophonist Miguel Zenón (pictured), trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Benny Green Quartet, pianist Helen Sung and others, will tear up their respective instruments and leave crowds feeling good about the health of America's true musical art form. It's a three-day event, and it's not that far a drive from anywhere in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. And they bumped back this year's festival by a week to accommodate anyone who wanted to go to the Newport Jazz Festival. Ain't that nice?
