Connecticut's shoreline is rich with history and community involvement, and Old Lyme is no exception. This Friday and Saturday, six venues in the town's historic district host the annual Midsummer Festival, a full spectrum of fun for the whole family. On Friday, view exhibitions at the Lyme Art Association (90 Lyme St.) and Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts (84 Lyme St.) from 5-7 p.m., before a concert by River City Slim & the Zydeco Hogs at the Florence Griswold Museum (96 Lyme St.). Also at the museum, before the concert, is an open house and a pre-concert dinner (call Gourmey Galley at 860-415-9589 to order your food). Saturday, the Florence Griswold Museum hosts a Parading Paws Dog Show (9-11:30 a.m.), the Market En Plein Air and an Artisan Fair (both 9 a.m.-3 p.m.). The Lyme Art Association has a paperback book sale (9 a.m.-3 p.m.), and animals posting for artists to paint their pictures (10 a.m.-2 p.m.). Old Lyme Inn (85 Lyme St.) has live music from 11 a.m.-dark. Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts hosts a Youth Music Stage (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and a book signing by Regina Barreca (1:30-2:30 p.m.). Studio 80 + Sculpture Grounds (80-1 Lyme St.) hosts and open studio. Lyme Street Merchants (10-60 Lyme St.) have sidewalk sales and more. To see more events, head to oldlymeartalliance.org.
