Letters: County seal cross -- historical or religious?
Re “L.A. County considering altering seal,” Jan. 1
With two supervisors seeking to place the Christian cross on the seal of Los Angeles County, I guess that everyone in L.A. has good housing, enough nutritious food to eat and enough money to pay their health insurance premiums.
Why else would L.A. County Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich and Don Knabe be proposing to alter the county seal? The county must have money to spend on lengthy litigation that is certain to follow if the board votes to add a cross to the county seal.
Is this how 2014 begins?

As someone who works in the San Fernando courthouse, I can only laugh at the changes that were made in 2004 to our once beautiful and historical county seal.
Every day I look up above the judge to see the goddess Minerva looking over the bay on the state seal. Court files have the L.A. County court seal bearing an angel with wings.
That the county first removed the cross in 2004 didn’t alter California’s history. These are my thoughts from a court in St. Fernando’s city, in the county of the angels, and in the state of the goddess Califia.

A large number of L.A. County residents are not Christian. If the supervisors need meaningful work, they should focus on one or two of their scandal-ridden departments.
