Re “Family’s second chance,” Column One, Dec. 25

I cried when I read the article about Brooke Mayo and her reunion with Patricia Hamlin, the daughter she gave up for adoption more than 70 years ago.

To give a baby up for adoption is one of the hardest things a mother can do (no matter the circumstances). In trying to find the son or daughter, the fear of rejection is so great.

I gave a baby up for adoption, and she found me after 45 years. The feelings described in the article are so true, with the similarities my daughter and I have discovered (we talk alike and have the same mannerisms).

I hope Mayo and Hamlin have a wonderful life together. Keep the wonderful articles coming.
