As gratifying as the "tea party" failures in the U.S. Senate races were to many election watchers, the story was different in the House of Representatives. Three of the movement's most irritating firebrands were reelected, assuring at least two more years of wacky Fox News interviews, wild-eyed posturing on the House floor and a collective national outbreak of eczema as Americans who graduated from high school scratch their collective scalps in an effort to figure out what spawned this peculiar breed of insular rural troglodyte. I refer, of course, to Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert and Iowa Rep. Steve King. Lovers of baseless conspiracy theories and partisan nonsense can rejoice; the rest of us can only wait for 2014, and hope. Above: Bachmann speaks in Tampa, Fla., on Aug. 26.
