Dining in style

The challenge was to update the heavy mission-style table and captain's chairs, and use the crystal chandelier in a way that would not overwhelm the room. Designer Jose Cabrera decided on a pared-down approach, which would give the room a more-modern look and showcase each element. he left the table bare to show off the beauty of the wood, and covered the head chairs in striped velvet . The side chairs were made sleek and modern with off-white linen slipcovers. With no competing clutter in the room, the single painting and elaborate chandelier really shine.PHOTO/LORI TURCHIN
