The Beginning.

Grant Hill missed the final three regular-season games with the Detroit Pistons with what is described as a "deep bone bruise" of his left ankle in April 2000. On April 25, after playing in Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs against the Miami Heat, Hill leaves the second half of Game 2 in obvious pain. It is diagnosed as a stress fracture. Three days later, Dr. James Sferra of The Cleveland Clinic operates on Hill`s ankle, inserting five pins and a plate to promote healing.ANGELA PETERSON/ORLANDO SENTINEL
