With the first pick in franchise history, the Orlando Magic selected Illinois guard/forward Nick Anderson at No. 11 in June 1989. Anderson spent 10 seasons with the Magic, more than any other player in franchise history, and still holds many of the team records. He was traded to the Sacramento Kings in the summer of 1999 in exchange for guard Tariq Abdul-Wahad and a future first-round draft pick. He finished his playing career with the Memphis Grizzlies. Anderson has returned to work for the Magic as a community ambassador.
