Greg LeMond rode into greatness with his performance in the 1989 Tour De France. He overcame a seemingly insurmountable lead by Frenchman Laurent Fignon to win by 8 seconds, the narrowest margin of victory ever in Tour history. That effort earned him 1989 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year honors. Orlando's Tracy McGrady doesn't need wheels to ride into superstardom. He's already there thanks to his basketball talents. But McGrady, alas, is only human. Even his spectacular 1-man effort last season, when he won the NBA scoring title, was not enough to get the Magic past the 1st round of the playoffs.
