The Orlando Sentinel's 2012 Holiday Art Contest has been judged and the winners honored at an Awards Program last week at the Sentinel. One grand prize, four merit awards and 10 honorable mention winners in each of the three age groups were chosen by five art teachers who volunteered as contest judges.
There also were 20 Certificate of Appreciation winners including the one above by John Gray, a fifth-grader at The Geneva School. It depicts paparazzi chasing down Santa, and it struck a chord with those of us in the photo department.
The grand prize and merit award winners' artwork will appear in the newspaper and online at OrlandoSentinel.com on Christmas Day. Honorable mention winners will be featured online at OrlandoSentinel.com/holidayart.
Also on our website this year will be a video on the judging process and a video of each grand prize winner talking about his or her artwork. The winning artwork will also be featured in an exhibit at Mennello Museum, 900 E. Princeton St. in Orlando, from Sunday through Dec. 30.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
