In honor of the theater's namesake, the great actress Annie Russell herself, this 80th season is dedicated to leading ladies, and the triumphs of the not-so weaker sex. The beauty pageant of all comedies, "The Miss Firecracker Contest," opens the season in September, followed by
The season concludes with a special nod to tradition. S. Joseph Nassif, beloved department chair from 1982-2003 will guest direct a classic comedy which starred Annie Russell in a 1912 production: "She Stoops to Conquer."
While celebrating the past, the Annie Russell Theatre is also starting a new tradition for opening-night ticket holders. By purchasing an opening-night package, patrons will now be invited to an opening-night reception and meet-and-greet with cast, crew and department faculty.

• "Anna in the Tropics" by Nilo Cruz; directed by David Charles. Feb. 8-16.
• "Rollins Dance XXVII" with artistic director W. Robert Sherry. March 15-16.
