"John Carter" contest winner will get a free trip to Disney's Hawaii resort

It was 100 years ago when fictional character John Carter began entertaining magazine readers with legendary exploits in other worlds.

Now, in advance of the film based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs character, a new generation of fans will be introduced to his adventures. And Disney is using the movie to offer a lucky contest winner the chance to explore its newest resort a world away, too.

Disney.com is promoting a contest in which a grand prize winner will enjoy a four-night stay at its Hawaii destination, Aulani Resort and Spa. The prize comes with a free roundtrip flight, plus a $500 room credit, too.

To enter the "Journey to Aulani" contest, go to Disney.com and enter once a day. You also can text “JOURNEY” to 347639 (“DISNEY”). You can get official rules here. The contest closes March 23.

And check out an advance look at the upcoming film “John Carter” here.  After all, if you don’t win the trip to an exotic locale, Disney’s latest action-adventure flick just might be the next best escape.

“John Carter” opens nationwide on March 9.
