The expansion at Fun Spot America won't stop with the under-construction phase that's scheduled to open this summer. The attraction, near International Drive, has purchased an additional 8 acres on Grand National Drive, adjacent to its current property, for future use, the company announced Thursday afternoon.
The attraction already is in the midst of a $25 million expansion project that will feature its first two roller coasters: a wooden one known as White Lightning and a steel, inverted thrill ride called Freedom Fighter. In addition, an extreme, swinging ride known as SkyCoaster, more carnival-style rides and parking improvements are expected.
Fun Spot officials did not specify what will go on the latest land acquisition, although water-park features were considered before the current expansion was finalized.
Fun Spot, known for its "It's Huge" television commercials, also has a location in Kissimmee.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
