Gaylord Palms: Orlando Polar Bear Club to hit ICE! on Dec. 1

Gaylord Palms' ICE! attraction will again host the Orlando Polar Bear Club's annual swimsuit-clad dash through the ice sculptures in the name of charity.

Folks seeking induction to the club can show up at 8 a.m. on Dec. 1 for the event, which benefits Vitamin Angels. (Doors open at 7:30 a.m.) Tickets to the event are $18.99 and include a post-dash reception with hot cocoa and pastries plus the opportunity to go back into ICE! later that morning at a more leisurely, fully clothed pace. Remember, the temperature tops out at 9 degrees in ICE!

Advance-purchase tickets are available at www.OrlandoPolarBearClub.com.

The event has a few rules. Shoes are required. Swimsuits must be in "good taste." Participants are encouraged to accessorize with hats, gloves and other cold-weather gear.  Expect to spend only a few minutes in the exhibit while in swimsuit mode.

This year's ICE! exhibit has a "Merry Madagascar" theme and features 12 scenes from the DreamWorks animated holiday special. One scene features ice slides, which sounds a little perilous for the swimsuit set. The final vignette is an ice-clear nativity scene.
