GLEN DAVIS, POWER FORWARD/CENTER
HT: 6-9 WT: 289 COLLEGE: LSU
AGE: Turns 27 on Jan. 1, 2013.
NBA SEASONS: 2012-13 is his sixth.
TWITTER HANDLE: @iambigbaby11
HOW HE CAME TO ORLANDO: Traded by the Boston Celtics with Von Wafer in a sign-and-trade deal for Brandon Bass on Dec. 12, 2011.
SCOUTING REPORT: Davis’ roller-coaster first season with the Magic started with disappointment at coming off the bench and included a team-imposed suspension for an argument with Stan Van Gundy during a practice. But Davis’ year ended on the upswing. Davis moved into the starting lineup after Dwight Howard suffered a back injury, and Davis’ gritty play won over fans. He also produced, averaging 15.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in the regular season as a starter. He arguably was the Magic’s best player in the postseason. He has a good touch on his jumper, but he needs to avoid settling for shots from 17 feet and beyond.
ODDS & ENDS: His nickname, “Big Baby,” is one of the most colorful in pro sports. . . . In his charitable work, he has supported childhood reading programs.
