The Magic started Wednesday with an 11-11 record in games Nelson played and a 1-8 record in games without him.
"I know when you have guys who've been in the league, when they're out, it's tougher to win," Nelson said. "The young guys, they're still trying to figure it out. They're doing a good job for us and are playing their roles well, but there's a lot of learning that they have still to go."
