Orlando Magic coach Jacque Vaughn has decided to not to play swingman Arron Afflalo tonight against the San Antonio Spurs.
Afflalo participated in the team’s shootaround Sunday morning and had wanted to make his preseason debut Sunday night, but Vaughn chose to remain extra cautious as Afflalo continues to recover from a strained left hamstring.
Afflalo will be able to scrimmage with his teammates prior to Wednesday night’s exhibition in Memphis. The team has added wrinkles to its offense since Vaughn scrimmaged with the team early in training camp.
“I always want guys to feel comfortable out there just playing and not thinking about plays and calls and just playing with instinct and playing with comfort,” Vaughn said.
“I’m thinking about the player and the comfort level that I hope they want to play with and for me to try to foster that and not rush a guy back.”
