Position: Power forward
2012-13 stats: 31.1 mpg, 44.8 fg%, .000 3p%, 71.8 ft%, 15.1 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 2.1 apg
Background: Davis spent four seasons with Boston, winning a ring in 2008, before the
Strengths: He became the heart and soul of the Magic in many ways, appearing to mature. He was the best interior defender and posted career highs before injuries eventually derailed him – and the club. He helped push the Magic to a surprising 12-13 start and a No. 6 ranking defensively, but his two stints on the injured list resulted in the team winning only eight more games. A proverbial bull in the china shop, Davis is light on his feet and has a nice touch.
Needs to improve: Big Baby is a powerhouse inside, but he forces shots at times in traffic and tends to turn over the ball. Instead of barreling ahead, he has a nice mid-range game and should explore it more to become less predictable.
The future: Although Davis says he wants to stay, he is vulnerable to being traded this summer as the Magic continue to clear cap space. Assuming he is still here, Davis will have a challenger for his power-forward job:
