It was the classic anti-war WWI novel, and the film of it, a stolid, brooding affair that collected Oscar honors back in the day.

Now Daniel Radcliffe is set to star in a new version of All Quiet on the Western Front, based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque.

Hes done WWI duty before, as evidenced by the photo, a British TV movie aired on PBS here in the US --My Boy Jack, about Rudyard Kipling's son, who went to war to prove Dad's idea of the glories of men in combat causing his father no end of grief and regret.

Variety reports Radcliffe will begin filming this after he revives How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway, sometime in 2012.
