When Mary Brooks of Orlando visits a time-share in St. Maarten every October, she says she is struck by the beauty of the island each time. From Fort Amsterdam, near Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch side of the island shared by both France (Saint Martin) and the Netherlands (Sint Maarten), she captured this view overlooking Little Bay and Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. Behind the resort sits Paradise Peak, the island’s highest point at 1,400 feet. Fort Amsterdam, built in 1631, was the first Dutch military outpost in the Caribbean.
