The Orlando Magic's future salary commitments

In the NBA, salary-cap space is a valuable commodity because it helps teams to sign free agents and acquire players in trades. So how does Orlando Magic’s payroll stack up? This chart will give you an idea.

Using databases from the websites HoopsWorld and ShamSports, as well as the NBA’s rookie-scale figures, we’ve compiled the current and future salaries of all players the Magic currently have under contract.

In this chart, we’ve included only guaranteed salaries and individuals’ player options. Hedo Turkoglu, for instance, is scheduled to earn $12 million in 2013-14, but only half of that figure is guaranteed, according to ShamSports. We’ve also excluded qualifying offers for players who will be finishing their rookie-scale contracts, because those players ultimately can become restricted free agents in those seasons.

These salaries have not been verified by the Magic because team officials don’t disclose their players’ salaries. The league’s cap for the 2012-13 season is set at $58.044 million, and teams must have a minimum total salary of $49.34 million.
