Gov. Scott signs workforce bill

Gov. Rick Scott talks to reporters after signing the workforce accountability bill during a ceremony in Orlando, Friday, March 30, 2012. He is joined by bill co-sponsors Sen. Andy Gardiner (left) and Rep. Jason Brodeur (right). The bill, HB 7023, empowers the governor to better regulate top executives of the state's regional jobs boards. The law came in the wake of a series of Orlando Sentinel stories that uncovered questionable spending and management practices during the past year at the boards, including Orlando's Workforce Central Florida. The workforce bill was part of the governor's ¿Job Creation and Economic Growth Agenda,¿ a package of four pro-business bills that he signed this week.
