Friday night, Dee Hart (5-9, 185) will announce his college decision. He's dumped the afternoon press conference and will now make his announcement following the Boone-Dr. Phillips game live on
Sports Network, which has the game as its Game of the Week.
Hart, a four-star running back for Orlando Dr. Phillips, announced Monday that his college decision had come down to a choice between
and Michigan. On Wednesday, Hart offered some possible foreshadowing with a hint via text message that he was leaning toward committing to Alabama, and continued that stance on Thursday.
"Decision still coming Friday after the game," Hart said via text Thursday about 12:30. "Real high on Alabama. Roll Tide."
Hart hasn't really elaborated on why he stands with Alabama right now. When asked what was the one thing that puts Alabama on top for him, he texted, "Great run game."
A great run game, indeed, with a Heisman Trophy winner in Mark Ingram, who is just a junior. No matter how it is evaluated, Michigan seems to be a place where Hart could get on the field faster, but other factors are certainly prevailing for Hart at this time.
Michigan folks have visions of a QB Denard Robinson-SB Dee Hart backfield dancing in their heads. Michigan coach
apparently sees Hart as a Steve Slaton-type slashing back who can double the excitement already given the Wolverines by Robinson.
For now Hart still says he's leaning Alabama, which, of course, really means nothing today. Friday night comes the big commitment, and even then, Hart will still have 115 days within which to change his mind -- again and again -- before the Feb. 2, National Signing Day. Although he will have even less time, if he decides to enroll for the spring semester at his school of choice.
Hart is a fun-loving guy who is very low-key but likes to have fun and joke around. He could be just having some fun during his ride toward potential college stardom. Like they say, it's a free country.
Hart has good friends at both Michigan and committed to Alabama. He wrote on ex-temmeate Ricardo Miller's Facebook wall on Sunday, that reads, "My brother it's been awhile but from the heart you ready to join me as we take the world . . . [ Go ****]."
Conveniently, he left four stars in the post, so does that mean Go Blue or Go Tide? Most people would not say Go Tide, but rather Roll Tide, as is tradition. Read into that what you will. Hart didn't change his mind about leaning to Alabama until Wednesday, and that post was Sunday.
Hart also said this week he will be visiting Ann Arbor for the
game Nov. 20 with teammates
(Alabama commit), Roderick Ryles (
commit), Darryl Monroe (Washington State commit).
Clinton-Dix, of course, is his Alabama tie. Hart's best friend committed to the Crimson Tide this past summer and recently said he was, "Done, 100 percent done," with his recruiting and Alabama strong.
Recruiting experts nationwide still see Hart in a maize and blue uniform. Chad Simmons of Scout.com, said recently via
: "I have always felt Michigan was the school he would choose, but it seems Alabama gave him something to think about last weekend."
Friday night will at least calm the message boards for a little while.
