Things are starting to pick up for Olympia defensive tackle
The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Green received his ninth college scholarship offer on Monday and this one came from just across town from the Knights of UCF.
"I talked to Coach (Jim) Panagos, the D-line coach, and he seemed like my kind of coach," Green said. "Things are starting to pick up more and more now and I've heard that some other schools are looking at me too."
Green also has offers from Cincinnati, FAU, Illinois, Louisville, Rutgers, Texas Tech, USF and Wake Forest.
The USF offer came during a visit to Tampa this past weekend.
"USF was all nice and they showed they cared about their student athletes," Green said. "They're building new apartment dorms for the student athletes and each student athlete will get new Apple laptops. Coach (Skip) Holtz seemed like a real nice guy and he told some good recruiting stories."
Green is still surveying the recruiting landscape.
"I want to see everybody who's looking at me because I'm not even sure who's all looking at me," Green said.
Green, whose father lives in South Carolina and he lives with his mother in Orlando, figured he'd try to stay in the South to play college football, but more offers are coming in that could pull him farther north.
"I planned to stay in the South," he said, "but as I look into it, a lot of northern schools are looking at me and if I end up there then it would be OK, I guess. But if I stayed in the South, that would be pretty nice for my family watching me ... a lot of teams close to my father are looking at me."
Dad might be in South Carolina, but don't think for a minute he doesn't follow along with what's going on with his son. He made it down for four Olympia games last year and tries to get down to Orlando when he can.
"Oh yeah, he's following. He tells me stuff he sees on the internet before I even know about it," said the younger Green.
And as popular as he's becoming, Green could probably use the help. He enters spring ball as the No. 12-ranked player in the
and the offers will keep coming as he gains more exposure.
On his agenda coming up is a trip to the
Miami Combine at the end of the month and he has also been invited to the
