In 1984, Lili became one of only five Atlantic tropical cyclones on record to reach <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEOREG000022" title="Caribbean Islands" href="/topic/intl/caribbean-islands-PLGEOREG000022.topic">hurricane</a> status in December. Lili threatened the Caribbean before weakening and dissipating near the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO00000191" title="Dominican Republic" href="/topic/intl/dominican-republic-PLGEO00000191.topic">Dominican Republic</a>.
