Over the weekend, reports surfaced that the league was close to losing several members to rival conferences.
UTSA is reportedly considering an offer to join Conference e USA while UT Arlington and Texas State are reportedly headed to the Sun Belt. All moves would happen in 2013.
On Tuesday, the WAC released a statement saying it plans on fighting on:
"The Western Athletic Conference Board of Directors is well aware of the changing landscape in Division I athletics and has been in discussion about it for the last several weeks," interim WAC commissioner Jeff Hurd said.
"Further, it continues to evaluate the impact upon the WAC and is closely engaged in evaluating its membership options. It will not speculate relative to those options, but it has confidence that the WAC will maintain its more than 50-year history as a preeminent Division I conference."
Even with my public school education, I can figure out that the WAC is a sinking ship.
The league has already lost
Denver and Seattle are joining the league as non-football members this season.
