Chargers may be going to L.A., but not to jail

Share

With football season firing back up, former San Jose Mercury News sports reporter Mike Rosenberg compiled and shared statistics of NFL arrests (per team) over the last five years.

Using data from USA TODAY and The San Diego Union-Tribune, the Minnesota Vikings led the pack with 18 arrests -- thanks to Adrian Peterson and Everson Griffen, as well as ex-Vikings Chris Cook, Erin Henderson and Jerome Simpson.

The Broncos followed closely behind with 16 while the Buccaneers and Colts tied for 13 each. In total, 260 players have been arrested in 260 weeks -- averaging one a week. Yikes!

On the flipside, the Texans come in last with just one, and the Chargers, Giants and Panthers are tied for next-to-last with three each.

The last Chargers player arrested? Linebacker Thomas Keiser on a misdemeanor battery charge at a Gaslamp Quarter restaurant in December 2013.

FYI, there’s no correlation made to how the arrests impact team records, nor does it conclude that arrests have any bearing on wins or losses.
