Stars shine at Comic-Con after-party

By day, stars of film and television’s biggest shows take on Hall H and many of the other ballrooms within the San Diego Convention Center to give fans an insider scoop of what’s to come. Come nightfall, they let loose at Comic-Con’s famous after-parties. This year, Entertainment Weekly’s annual Comic-Con Bash lived up to expectations and had a star-studded RSVP list.

From Game of Thrones and Stranger Things to Riverdale and Lethal Weapon (the TV show, not the 1987 movie), the black carpet at Hard Rock Hotel’s Float was filled with star power. Whether it was their first Comic-Con or fifth, each star PACIFIC spoke with said they were having a blast.

“I’ve been to many other Cons before, but this is my first time at the San Diego Comic-Con,” said Lethal Weapon star Johnathan Fernandez. “It’s on a totally different scale, but I’ve had such a great time and all of the fans have been so welcoming.”

For others, returning to Comic-Con means stopping by their favorite San Diego hot spots.

“Every time I come to San Diego, I make sure I stop at Full Moon Sushi,” said Archer’s Amber Nash. “It’s delicious and something I look forward to every year.”

While Comic-Con is full of surprises each year, an unspoken theme of this year’s Con was bad-ass women. With Wonder Woman’s success and Charlize Theron’s upcoming action-thriller Atomic Blonde, many female stars said they felt the girl power and explained what they think makes a bad-ass woman.

“Knowledge of self, fearlessness and kindness are definitely traits a bad-ass woman has - and a few martial arts moves could help too,” The Mayor’s Yvette Nicole Brown said.

As the night came to a close, the stars weighed in on the highlights of Comic-Con. Though the crowds get bigger each year, American Gods star Orlando Jones said he loves the energy and excitement fans bring.

“I love how Comic-Con focuses on the good,” he said. “People bring their passion and positivity, and we can all feel that.”
