A 22-year-old man was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in critical condition after he ran out in front of an SUV at the intersection of Hanson Road and Woodbridge Center Way in Edgewood Thursday evening, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
At about 6:39 p.m., Myles Daye Murphy, of the 800 block of West Spring Meadow Court in Edgewood, was hit as he ran into the path of a 2002 Ford Explorer being driven by Donnita Adams, 32, of Edgewood, according to Eddie Hopkins, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were told Murphy was running from the Woodbridge Valley community toward the Harford Square community when he entered the road in front of the Explorer, the sheriff's office reported. Adams swerved her vehicle trying to miss hitting Murphy, but was unable to avoid hitting him.
Murphy was treated at the scene by members of the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and then flown to the shock trauma by Maryland State Police Medevac, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Murphy was listed in critical condition at shock trauma Tuesday afternoon.
