At 7:44 a.m., the
Joppa-Magnolia sent three fire units, three medic units and two chief officers with a total of 16 volunteers, according to the release. First arriving units at 7:48 a.m. confirmed there had been a two-vehicle collision in the intersection.

All lanes of eastbound Route 40 were closed so paramedics could tend to the injured and firefighters could secure the scene, according to the fire company. The road was reopened at 8:10 a.m.
Maryland State Police from the Bel Air Barrack responded to the accident. Shortly before 11 a.m., a duty officer at the barrack said no additional information was available about the accident.
