Autumn is a gorgeous time to be outdoors and enjoy one of our local gems – the Jerusalem Mill Village. The quaint beauty of the village framed in warm, fall colors is the setting for the upcoming 18th Century Colonial Craftsmen Weekend. Save the Oct. 13 and 14 to see the re-creation of a rural 18th century market fair complete with an encampment where goods are bought, sold and bartered. Talented artisans and re-enactors will demonstrate their skill at age-old crafts and trades. Watch the blacksmith forge useful items and talk with the woodworkers as they build period furniture for the living history program. Take a tour of this historic mill village and the colonial tent town. Living history interpreters will be on hand to meet you. In addition, enjoy live period music, shop at the merchant's tents, and enjoy Kids Kamp and period game. A schedule of activities will be posted shortly before the event. Please note: portions of the Village may be closed for general use during special events. Please remember that no pets are allowed during special events. Weekend hours for the public are Sat, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is sponsored by Friends of Jerusalem Mill, in cooperation with Gunpowder Falls State Park.. News from our Councilman David Marks: The Council down-zoned 264 acres in Perry Hall, including environmentally sensitive land southwest of Perry Hall High School, along the East Joppa Road corridor near Chapel Road, and north of Seven Oaks Elementary School. In addition, Councilman Marks is sponsoring legislation that would require the owner of a pet cemetery in Baltimore County to notify anyone who has purchased a lot if the property were to be developed or used for another purpose. The bill would also require some form of compensation. Follow-up: The Baltimore County project to improve a major part of Cowenton Ave in Perry Hall involves installing curbs, gutters and sidewalks between Morning Dove Way and Honeybrook Way. The $250,000 project will be finished by October, weather permitting. And one more item: Please join in wishing David Marks a very happy birthday!
