Twenty-two outstanding educators from area schools were honored at a dinner Jan. 10 by the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce, which honors teachers as part of their annual awards and installation dinner,.

Also honored were Donna Rongione of the Community College of Baltimore County, and two educators at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Ryan Kloetzer of the lower school and Cheryl Willbanks of the upper school.
Each honoree received a plaque and goodie bags filled with gifts from local businesses.
Janelle Gwynn, the chamber's director, noted that members of any school's staff who have had had a positive impact on students was eligible for the awards.
"We recognize there are instrumental people in the school system who aren't always teachers," she said, noting that people in that category might not otherwise receive recognition for their efforts.
Each principal in the areas served by the chamber was asked to nominate a staff member for the awards that were first given 60 years ago, according to Gwynn.
