Happy New Year to all!
I am writing with major concerns about South Rolling Road.
I know this has been a topic for several years now.
I am a concerned parent of two high school students who attend Catonsville High School.
Every morning, I choose to drive my children to school rather then let them walk, due to how dangerous it is. Motorists do not pay attention to walkers.
They do not stop at the designated cross walks and they drive on the shoulder, where children are walking, to get around another vehicle. It is a very scary sight to see.
Each morning, I stop to let students use the cross walk.
However, this seems to only put them in more danger because oncoming traffic does not stop and turning vehicles assume I am stopping to let them turn. I have witnessed many near misses of young students getting hit by motor vehicles.
I beg our politicians to please address this situation as soon as possible.
I also challenge them to walk down South Rolling between 7 and 7:45 a.m., especially at the Newburg Avenue intersection. Try to cross the street at the cross walk.
Then try to do so again in the afternoon when school lets out.
I look forward to hearing what immediately workable solution you offer..
