Centennial secured the sixth and final seed in the Howard County Cup tournament on the last day of the league season, as Howard and Mt. Hebron tied, 6-6.
Centennial earned the berth by virtue of its win against Howard earlier this season. Had either Howard or Mt. Hebron won the game, that team would have clinched the final playoff seed, and the game came down to the last minute of play.
The Howard Cup championship game will be played Friday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 p.m. at the Columbia Ice Rink. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students with ID, and free for children 8-and-under.

February Frenzy started this Tuesday at Howard Community College, with the men's and women's basketball teams playing opening round games in the Maryland Junior College Tournament, results too late for this edition.
The men, seeded seventh, visited 10th seeded Chesapeake, while the 11th seeded women traveled to sixth seeded Frederick.
Starting on Friday, all MDJUCO tournament games will be played at Frederick Community College.

The cardiac kids gave their coach a much needed dose of "got it under control, coach" as they beat Montgomery-Takoma 72-53 in their final regular season game.
James Peters had a break-out game as he led the way with 21 points, and 17 in the first half alone. Sophomore Sean Sullivan also had a personal best, recording a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Taking a seven point lead, 38-31, into half-time, the Dragons came out in the second half with more confidence, building the lead to as many as 21 points.
Coach Mike Smelkinson now takes his surging Dragons into the MDJUCO tournament with a 12-12 record. Many of the losses came by less than four points.
The Dragons are also preparing for the upcoming Region XX tournament March 1-4 at Hagerstown.
The Lady Dragons wrapped up their regular season at Alleghany this past Saturday with a 65-36 loss. In their first meeting with Frederick — the team they'll face in the opening round of the MDJUCO tournament on Tuesday — the Lady Dragons lost by 28 points.
The Howard Community College indoor track team completed its season at the Bucknell University Winter Classic this past Saturday.
Eric Bishop ran the 60-meter hurdles in 8.83. Andrew Parlette established a new school record in the 3k, winning his heat in 9:02. Teammate Filagot Dinku was third in 9:07 and Rafi Fernandez was 14th in 9:48. Mary Rzegocki ran the mile in 5:45 and the 1k in 3:35.
Brandon Woodley placed third in the 500 meters in 1:08.
"Overall, it was a good meet," coach Steve Musselman said. "We did a progression chart for our students and we have seen a lot of improvement overall. The indoor season is similar to a scrimmage season for our program. The main emphasis is the outdoor national meet in May."
