It was a team effort, with 13 of 19 players either scoring or assisting goals, as River Hill defeated Wilde Lake/Hammond/Oakland Mills, 11-7. Goalie Will Barrett made seven saves on 14 shots as River Hill improved its season record to 1-1. Jared Rosburg (four goals) and Casey Carpenter (three) led the scoring for River Hill, with additional goals scored by Brian Tyrrell, Ryan Grimes, Robert Dass and Patrick Evans. Assists were provided by Shasta Braithwaite (two) and Nick Vukmer (two), Tyrrell, Grimes, Dass, Matt Gray, Joey Milici, Phillip Shebel, Cory Sadler and Ben Peters.
WHO goalie Alexa Kanakr faced a barrage of 45 shots for the game, making 34 saves in the losing effort. Andrew Amick (two goals, four assists) led WHO's offensive efforts, with support from Michael Amick (two goals), Kat Mackey (two goals) and Tim Bryson as the team (1-1) suffered its first loss.
Long Reach (2-0) defeated Reservoir, 12-4. Long Reach goals were scored by Jansen Earle (four), Pete Dudley (three), Robby Ouellette (two), Thomas Reboullett, Dominic Sesto and Jeff Dudley. Assists were made by the goal scorers plus Chad Whitelock.
Scorers for Reservoir (0-2) were Darian Miller (two), P.J. Westland and Matias Arrazola with assists by Miller and Westland. The Lightning net was split by period with Josh Fleming, Zack Miller and Brandon Sonnemann each taking turns. Louis Consoli, Reservoir's goalie, faced 28 shots.
Marriotts Ridge (2-0) defeated Howard (1-1), 7-2, with goals scored by Kris Case, Kyler Barrett, Jason Winik, Kyle Davis, Jon Hoskins, T.J. Clingerman and Daniel Beschner. Howard fought back with goals by Matt Taylor and Konner Ruggles. Marriotts Ridge goalie Dylan Schoen stopped 16 shots for the win while Howard's goalie David Boudjeda stopped 26 shots.
The Atholton Raiders topped the Wilde Lake/Hammond/Oakland Mills co-op team, 14-2, in a Howard County conference game. The Raiders are now 3-0 in league play. Atholton put points on the board with Zach Michels (goal, five assists), Derek Potter (goal, three assists), Evan Davis (two goals, assist), Brandon Potter (goal, assist), Avery Shepherd (goal, assist), Adam Davis (two goals), Alec Mercilliott (goal, assist), Jack Hughes (goal), Jake Mills (goal), Jason Eng (goal), Quentin Jones (goal), Jason Pazulski (goal), Nick Bogdash (five assists) and Matt Haney (two assists).
