Students at Mount Saint Joseph High School watch a live feed of astronaut Greg Chamitoff as he speaks to an audience at M.I.T. Jan. 23. Chamitoff recounted the story of being the first person to call William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk on Star Trek, from space. The students, from a computer programming class at the school on Frederick Avenue, were participating in Zero Robotics, an international robotics programming competition in which the robots are SPHERES (Sychronized Position-Hold Engage Reorient Experimental Satellites) inside the International Space Station.
