Rosie Deal has your Earth Day dinner planned for tonight (Friday) 5 to 8 p.m. at the VFW Lodge 8126, 300 Lodge Lane in Havre de Grace, 410-939-4578. Eat-in ($10) or take-out ($11) fried chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, rolls, butter and dessert. Yum!

Proud father Mitch Shank sent me an article in the University of Maryland newspaper April 8 about his daughter, Michi Shank. Michi is a junior bioengineering major but also a cupcake baker using fondant icing to create Van Gogh paintings, Maryland Terps designs and Monarch butterflies on cupcakes. Michi has volunteered to give one of her kidneys to her father, a diabetic who has been insulin dependent for 40 years and is legally blind. Helen Cayer announced the Havre de Grace Arts Commission's May 6 concert by the Lyric Opera Baltimore at 3 p.m. at the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 S. Union Ave., Havre de Grace. Renowned artists of the Lyric Opera will sing opera favorites and other musical vignettes. Concert tickets are $15 available at Havre de Grace Visitors Center, 410-939-2100.
