On June 17, Darlington Elementary School held its fifth grade Farewell. It was directed by Brenda Taylor, principal. Some of those attending included: State Sen. Barry Glassman, Rev. Nancy Dilliplane, and Rector of Grace Memorial Church Rev. Sarah Standiford, Episcopal deacon; Nancy Hill, education specialist, Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, grandparent, friends and neighbors.

Many certificates of Achievement, Awards, and "gold dollars" were awarded to the class of 2011; the program concluded with an outstanding power point presentation of the many memorable events that occurred during the past year. Everyone enjoyed a lovely reception held in the library. The class of 2011 included, Luann Blake, Cameron Dejohn, Cerene Duncan, Sean Greeley, Monica Ferguson, Tyler Hanger, Julie Hagis, Jess Hudler, Ivie Hart, Shane Kiser, Catilyn Hasson, Brayden Shue, Nena Hasson, Zachary Musselman, Georgia Kelly, Emily Still, and Chole Triplett.

Vacation Bible School this week at the Dublin United Methodist Church. A light supper will be served beginning at 5 p.m. followed by the start of the program at 6 until 8:30 p.m. For further information call 410-836-3889. The Dublin/Darlington Community Council had no meeting in July, however, there will be a meeting on Aug. 17 held at the Emergency Operations Center at 2220 Ady Rd. in Forest Hill. A tour of the facility will kick off the meeting at 7 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP Jane Howe.

Please join us for Summer Fun at the Hosanna School Museum the week of Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily for ages 6-12. Crafts, history, storytelling, underground railroad tour, nature walks, living history, picnic and more. The cost is $30 per child and everyone is to bring a bag lunch. Summer's here and the local swimming pool is open! The Conowingo Swimming Pool, a property of the Exelon Corp., is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Sept. 5. The pool is at 4948 Conowingo Rd. in Darlington near the Conowingo Dam. The 2011 Event Schedule includes plenty of family fun with crafts, movies, games and contests, plus music.
