It's disturbing because last year a substantial amount of garbage was collected from the same river banks. And the year before that, going back quite a few years at this point.
The plan is for volunteers to meet in Tydings Park in Havre de Grace, Community Park and Marina Park in Perryville, Marina Park and Octoraro Creek in
It's a great effort, and it promises to make boating, fishing and general enjoyment of the waterfront a good deal more pleasurable this summer. It would be nice, come to think of it, if the people who turn out to gather garbage could get a jump on the relaxation season on April 21 (
Unfortunately, that's wishful thinking, but hopefully one day it won't be. When the day finally comes that a crowd turns out to gather trash along the Susquehanna River and can find nothing, well that will be the day it's possible to say the bay has been saved.
