The District 10 Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW met on Tuesday, April 2, at the VFW Post 8185 for their quarterly dinner meeting. Auxiliaries from posts in Elkton, North East and Chesapeake City joined the Port Deposit ladies in planning fundraisers for the district.
Father John Abrahams, Port, blew out his birthday candles on April 4 and Father Jay McKee, Perryville, subtracted a year from his age on April 5.
The snowfall last Monday impacted the Fun Buns Energy Class at Port Deposit's VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road; but instructor Cindi Lamb Wiley expects to guide her exercisers each Monday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. through April 29. A Cecil County Resource Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at St. Mary Anne's Parish Hall, 315 S. Main St., North East. Free food and refreshments, children's activities and Chipper the Herr's Mascot will be featured along with free resources for the family including information on Veteran's Housing Assistance, the Boys and Girls Clubs, the Mary Randall Center, Meeting Ground, and more. The Chesapeake City Fire Company will sponsor an all you can eat Chicken and Dumpling Dinner on Saturday, April 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the fire hall located at 215 Lock Street. Meals for adults will cost $7.
The new Bainbridge Museum will open for the season on Saturday, April 6, at 6 S. Main Street (the Bank Building) from 1 to 5 p.m.

Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville, will sponsor an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast on Sunday, April 7, from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children age 12 and younger. Kids age 5 and younger eat free. The varied menu will be sure to please most breakfast lovers.
Don't forget to play bingo on Sunday, April 7, at the American Legion Post 135, 300 Cherry St., Perryville. Sponsored by the post's Ladies Auxiliary, the bingo doors will open at 11 a.m. and early birds will be played at 11:45 a.m. A complete meal is served at intermission.

Lower Susquehanna Greenway will hold its 13th annual River Sweep on Saturday, April 20, this year in honor of Earth Day. This volunteer river shore clean-up will take place in Port Deposit, Perryville and Havre de Grace. You will register at 8:30 a.m. that morning with the clean-up from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be held rain or shine. Port Deposit's two clean-up sites are Marina Park and Octoraro Creek. Register in advance at http://www.hitourtrails.com.
Here's a quick head's up about a unique service to be held at the Port Deposit Presbyterian Church on April 21 at 10 a.m. During the regular service that day, the congregation will be entertained and enlightened by "Silent Witness," a mime troupe from Mt. Zion UMC in Bel Air.
